Ana, book 1 of my fantasy/paranormal romance series was released 8th September 2020 with Evernight Publishing. This fantasy paranormal romance book is a story of fated mates, arranged marriage, adventure and passion. Below you can find the blurb, an excerpt from the novel and some impartial reviews I've taken off Amazon. Ana is a wonderfully strong heroine. A vet at #ChesterZoo, she knows her mind when she agrees to marry Brenin, an alpha male who leads the Resistance.
I hope you enjoy the story! š

Extract from The Guardians' Trust: Ana (book 1):
Anaās cup hit the table, its contents sloshing onto the wood unnoticed. āHuman? What, from fourteenth century history weāre now talking UFOs?ā
Maddox laughed. āNot extra-terrestrials, no.ā His expression sobered, his belief in his next words evident. āBut Others.ā
āOthers?ā Ana squeaked. Glancing around, she was relieved to see the kiosk worker was still there. A handful of tourists mulled around, too. She wasnāt aloneāher skepticism would have done Scully proud, if not Mulder. āLook I saw the X-Files, who hasnāt? But Others? If the Trust is some sort of cult or something, Iām really not up for recruitment.ā
Pryce almost smiled. āWe are largely what we appear to be. A family who works in the Trust the Gatekeeperās replacement formed centuries ago to keep our land safe.ā
Ana frowned. They had both seemed so normal, and good-looking. It was such a shame. āAnd these Others?ā
āI am an Other,ā Maddox said calmly. āOr rather my parents were. I was conceived in the Other Realm and came here when still inside my motherās womb.ā
āThe gateway between the two worlds is one of those secrets we spoke of,ā Pryce said.
Ana stared from one to the other. How could two such respected businessmen be quietly bonkers and the world hadnāt noticed? āNext youāll be telling me you are three hundred years old as well,ā she scoffed.
Pryce shook his head, his lips twitching again. āIām thirty-one.ā
āI, on the other hand,ā Maddox said, āam six hundred eighteen years old. My fatherās Double was the Gatekeeper. I was born to take his place. I am the Caretaker of the Guardiansā Trust.ā
āSix hundred eighteen?ā Ana said faintly. She really needed to make her excuses and go.
āGiven my youthful good looks,ā Maddox said and smiled roguishly, āI can see why youād doubt me, but every word we have said is true. We protect the land and the secret gateway it holds.ā
Ana searched for something to say. She felt like a character in one of those novels where an impossible secret was told and the heroine was just supposed to swallow it. She glanced around warily. Perhaps she was being filmed? What was that American show called? Candid Camera? Did they even still make it?
This was ridiculous!
With deliberate care, Ana pushed her cup away. āIām not sure whatās going on, or if someone put you up to this, but I think your joke is over.ā She started to rise. āI thank you for the coffee, but I have work to do.ā
āTell me,ā Maddox said as she climbed to her feet, ādo you ever dream of a jungle?ā
Ana froze, one leg mid-air over the picnic bench sheād been sitting on. āWhat did you say?ā
āDo you ever dream of a jungle?ā
Slowly, Ana lowered herself back down to the bench. āThatās impossible,ā she said. āI never told anyone about my dream.ā
āAnd yet I know,ā Maddox said, his expression one of infinite patience. āThe jungle in your dreams is dense and green but not flat. It coats cliffs and mountains of jagged peaks and deep ravines. There are terracotta cliffs and yellow stone rises. There is a pool of turquoise water at the base of a waterfall. I wonder, in your dreams, did you ever see an old woman kneeling at the waterās edge washing her clothing?ā
āShe wasnāt old.ā The admission puffed through her stunned lips. āShe was young and beautiful, with hair like spun sunshine.ā
āYes, thatās her.ā Maddox smiled, enigmatically.
Ana blinked. āBut how can you know? I have seen this place since I was a small girl. It is real to me, so very real, but I have searched and searched and it does not exist. It only lives within my mind.ā
Maddox shook his head. āIn my mind, too. It is the place where I was conceived. It is my true home. The Other Realm.ā
āThen how do I know it?ā Ana asked. āIf you are going to tell me I am one of these Others, I wonāt believe you. I already think you half mad.ā
āOther? No. You are as human as they come, Dr. Siana Jones,ā Maddox said. āBut you are a Double.ā
Before she could ask, Pryce told her, āThroughout history there have been people born on either side of the gateway with the same face. Usually female, one is human and one is Other. Although different people, these Doubles are identical. At two points in history, the creator has asked them to cross and switch places.ā
āThe creator? Youāre bringing God into this?ā Ana asked, appalled.
āThe Mother we speak of is the ancient one. The bringer of life. Mother Nature. She created a trinity of worlds that form a whole. Usually, these worlds coexist separately, neatly, but there have been periods of unrest where the exchange of these Doubles has redressed an imbalance. The exchange, marriage, and mating of these Doubles has lessened growing evil.ā
āEvil?ā Ana felt cold. From vet to parrot in one bizarre conversation.
...āWait,ā Ana said, almost desperately. āAre you saying it is time for this Exchange again? That women need to swap places? That these identical Doubles, as you called them, are wandering around doing goodness knows what?ā
āNot wandering around, no. More like sitting, drinking Americano, and wondering if sheās lost her mind because sheās believing an impossible story when she knows she shouldnāt.ā
Anaās brown eyes had to be as wide as saucers. Her gaze swept from Pryce to Maddox and back again. āIn the words of John McEnroe, āyou cannot be serious!āā
Pryceās lips lifted in what seemed to be an apologyā¦
Anaās head sank into her hands. āThis is just so unbelievable. Iām a scientist. A vet. I like rational order, data, and proof. I donāt believe in prophetic dreams, or visions, or Other Realms, come to that.ā
āTell me. Did you see a man in your visions?ā Pryce asked.
Anaās head snapped up. āA man? No. I saw a jungle and cats: panthers, leopards, jaguarsā¦ā Her voice faded and her eyes narrowed. āWait. You said marriage and mating. Iām supposed to marry someone over there? Like an arranged marriage?ā
ā¦Ana jerked as she thought of something else. āHang on a second, didnāt you say there was some sort of civil war going on there? You want me to cross and marry a stranger and live in a war zone?ā
Maddox calmly took another sip of his tea. āI never said that accepting the fate you were born for would be easy, Dr. Jones.

GREAT READ

A brilliant fantasy story really enjoyed it and could not put it down.
Amazon Review: Granny 3
LEAVES YOU WANTING THE SEQUEL!

The story escalated quite quickly, perhaps too quickly in the beginning, but it kept my attention to want to know why. It reminded me of a hopeful other world, similar to that in the film āAvatarā, with beautiful descriptions of this other realm. I love sci-fi, mythology and alternative thinking so this book would appeal to anyone wanting to escape into a magical world of romance and heroism. I am now left wanting to know what happens in this realm, and the human realm. I want to know what happens with the next exchange, and how Siana survived also. Am hoping there is a sequel!

Dr. Ana Jones is a vet that dreams of big cats. Her hope is to one day live among the big cats in the wild to observe and study them. Then one day she is approached by two strange men that claim her destiny is to travel to a distant world and trade places with her double from that world. Can she do it? REVIEW FROM PARANORMAL TENDENCIES

As Ana plunges headfirst into another realm, the reader is plunged headfirst into her adventure. She finds herself in a world that is beautiful and foreign, but not without its appeal. There is no technology and she is able to be at peace with the people and nature surrounding her. As she finds her place in the new world, she meets many new people and is welcomed warmly. Yet despite the peace of the jungle, there is also a war brewing among the ancient families. Her new husband Brenin is the leader of their clan and he and his family have to defend their home. I really enjoyed Anaās story. She is a courageous character, and she brings her warmth and kindness through to the reader.
I loved this story and am eager to find out what happens in Anaās story next!
4 stars for Ana!
